We are taking The Online Food Pantry NationWide, but only with your help. To those who would like to donate nutritious food and deliver nutritious food to people in need in your community and/or nearby area, we are giving you the opportunity to make that happen on our behalf.
Food Donor Delivery Requirements
- Food Safety
- All donated food must be safe for human consumption.
- Donated food must be free from contamination, spoilage, or damage that could make it unsafe.
- Perishable foods must be maintained at appropriate temperatures during transportation and delivery.
- Frozen foods should remain frozen until delivery whenever possible.
- Packaging & Condition
- Food should be securely packaged and protected during transportation.
- Damaged, leaking, or severely compromised packaging should not be delivered.
- Donated food should be appropriately labeled when possible, including product name and relevant allergen information.
- Expiration & Dating
- Donors should identify products that are past their "best by," "sell by," or similar dates.
- Food that is spoiled, moldy, or otherwise unsafe must not be donated.
- Delivery Coordination
- The Online Food Pantry will contact donor and provide delivery address and coordinate a delivery date and time
- Donors are ask to confirm successful delivery with a photo with recipients permission. Otherwise, donors should not photograph, record, or publicly identify a recipient.
- Donors should notify the pantry as soon as possible if a scheduled delivery will be delayed or canceled.
- Quantity & Donation Information
- Donors should provide an approximate quantity or description of the food being delivered when possible.
- Large donations should be communicated in advance so adequate storage and distribution arrangements can be made.
- Transportation
- Food should be transported in a clean vehicle or appropriate food-transport container.
- Food should be protected from excessive heat, cold, moisture, dirt, pests, and other sources of contamination.
- Different food types should be separated when necessary to prevent cross-contamination.
- Special Dietary Information
- Foods should remain in their original packaging whenever possible to preserve ingredient and allergen information.
- Delivery to Recipients
- Donors are ask to confirm successful delivery with a photo with recipients permission. Otherwise, donors should not photograph, record, or publicly identify a recipient.
- Deliveries should be handled respectfully and with consideration for the privacy and dignity of recipients.
